Regular Season Round 13: Guangdong ST - DongGuan L. 128-104

An interesting game for Guandong Tigers (10-2) which hosted in Dongguan 4th placed DongGuan Leopards (7-6). Second ranked Guandong Tigers had an easy win 128-104. The game was mostly controlled by Guandong Tigers. DongGuan Leopards managed to win fourth quarter 34-28. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guandong Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to DongGuan Leopards' 56. They outrebounded DongGuan Leopards 45-31 including a 35-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guandong Tigers shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 66.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by DongGuan Leopards' players. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Aaron Brooks (183-85, college: Oregon) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points, 6 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals. His fellow American import forward James Singleton (203-81, college: Murray St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Guandong Tigers players scored in double figures. American forward Shavlik Randolph (208-83, college: Duke) answered with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and Nigerian-American guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) added 34 points (!!!) in the effort for DongGuan Leopards. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Guandong Tigers have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain second place with 10-2 record having just two points less than leader Beijing Ducks. DongGuan Leopards at the other side dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. Guandong Tigers are looking forward to face Fujian SBS XunXin (#13) in Jinjiang in the next round which should be another easy win for them. DongGuan Leopards will have a break next round.
