Very expected game when 6th ranked Huracanes (23-14) lost to second ranked Halcones Rojos (27-5) in Veracruz 79-91. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Halcones Rojos made 26-of-31 charity shots (83.9 percent) during the game. Strangely Huracanes outrebounded Halcones Rojos 44-32 including a 20-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Huracanes were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Puerto Rican point guard Carlos Rivera (187-83, college: Hofstra, agency: Paris Global Sports) scored 18 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and international guard Paul Stoll (178-85) chipped in 16 points and 6 assists during the contest. Four Halcones Rojos players scored in double figures. Halcones Rojos' coach Eddie Casiano used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center Albert Fuqua (211-83, college: UTSA) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds and his fellow American import power forward Robert Hornsby (196-82, college: Troy) scored 20 points and 6 rebounds. Halcones Rojos have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 27-5 record having five point less than leader Fuerza Regia. Huracanes at the other side keep the sixth place with 14 games lost. Halcones Rojos will play against league's leader Fuerza Regia in Monterrey in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
