There was no surprise in Helsinki where 12th ranked Torpan Pojat (1-12) was crushed by fifth ranked Lapuan Korikobrat (9-4) 103-67 on Sunday. The game without a history. Lapuan Korikobrat led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Lapuan Korikobrat dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Torpan Pojat's 32. They outrebounded Torpan Pojat 36-18 including a 13-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Eric Williams (198-85, college: Tarleton St.) fired a double-double by scoring 28 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import guard Walter Baxley (191-84, college: Mars Hill) chipped in 28 points. Cuban guard Alexis Lavastida (188-77) produced 13 points and forward Julius Rajala (200-94) added 9 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Lapuan Korikobrat. Lapuan Korikobrat moved-up to third place, which they share with BC Nokia and Oulun NMKY. Torpan Pojat lost their fifth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Lapuan Korikobrat will face BC Nokia (#4) on the road in the next round. Torpan Pojat will play against BC Jyvaskyla (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
