The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Ragusa (10-2) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were edged by sixth ranked S.E.Battipaglia (7-4) 61-60. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Ragusa. Ragusa was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Strangely Ragusa outrebounded S.E.Battipaglia 44-30 including a 14-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for Francesca Di Battista (175-80) who saved her team from a defeat with 21 points. Czech center Martina Rejchova (195-83) contributed with 11 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Guard Maria Buzzanca (171-76) replied with 25 points and 6 rebounds and Mozambican center Clarisse Machanguana (194-73, college: ODU, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 8 points and 14 rebounds in the effort for Ragusa. S.E.Battipaglia have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place in South, which they share with Orvieto. Ragusa at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. S.E.Battipaglia's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Battipaglia Battipaglia.
