There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Pomezia (3-7) edged higher ranked Napoli BK Women (5-7) in Roma 69-67 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Napoli BK Women won third quarter 16-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Pomezia won last quarter 15-14. It was a good game for guard Laura Perseu (169-85) who led her team to a victory with 24 points and 6 rebounds. Bulgarian swingman Daniela Georgieva (184-86) contributed with 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Bulgarian power forward Milena Tomova (189-82, college: FIU) replied with 20 points and 9 rebounds and guard Nadia Calamai (170-86) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Napoli BK Women. Pomezia maintains twelfth position in South with 3-7 record. Loser Napoli BK Women keeps the eighth place with seven games lost. Pomezia will face higher ranked Napoli S.Dike (#10) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
