Regular Season Round 12: Real Madrid - Assignia M. 83-61
Date: December 18, 2011
Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Assignia Manresa (6-9) was rolled over on the road by second ranked Real Madrid (12-3) 83-61 on Sunday. The game without a history. Real Madrid led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Real Madrid forced 19 Assignia Manresa turnovers and outrebounded them 43-23 including 16 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Montenegrin power forward Nikola Mirotic (207-91) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 7 rebounds and international power forward Felipe Reyes (203-80) who added 14 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Micah Downs (203-86, college: Gonzaga, agency: Priority Sports) with 19 points and 5 rebounds and American-Dominican power forward Josh Asselin (211-78, college: Michigan, agency: Duran International) scored 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Real Madrid keeps a position of league leader, which they share with FCB Regal and Caja Laboral. Loser Assignia Manresa keeps the eleventh place with nine games lost. Real Madrid will face FIATC Joventut (#15) in Badalona in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Assignia Manresa will play on the road against Regal FC Barcelona (#3).
