Regular Season Round 22: Takamatsu FA - Okinawa GK 79-115

BJ League top team - Okinawa GK (15-5) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed ninth ranked Takamatsu FA (0-20) 115-79. The game without a history. Okinawa GK led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Okinawa GK outrebounded Takamatsu FA 40-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. Okinawa GK looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Takamatsu FA's players. American center Jeff Newton (205-81, college: Indiana) notched a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import Anthony McHenry (202-83, college: Georgia Tech) supported him with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Five Okinawa GK players scored in double figures. Okinawa GK's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by point guard Masaaki Suzuki (176-87) did not help to save the game for Takamatsu FA. American power forward Paul Butorac (208-83, college: E.Washington) added 24 points for lost side. Okinawa GK maintains first position with 15-5 record. Loser Takamatsu FA still closes the standings with 20 games lost. Okinawa GK will meet Oita Heat Devils (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Takamatsu FA will play against Miyazaki Shining Suns and hopes to get finally their first victory.
