Regular Season Round 15: Menorca - Lobe Huesca 75-76

A very interesting game took place in Mahon. It ended with only one-point home defeat of 4th placed Menorca Basquet (9-6) to fifteenth ranked Lobe Huesca (6-9) 76-75 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Menorca Basquet. Menorca Basquet was ahead by 2 points after three quarters before a 19-16 charge of Lobe Huesca, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Menorca Basquet outrebounded Lobe Huesca 42-29 including 29 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Lithuanian guard Gintaras Leonavicius (194-83, agency: Players Group) who scored 22 points. Power forward Miguel Montanana (206-80) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was center Oliver Arteaga (211-83) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and guard Roma Bas (192-83) added 14 points respectively. Menorca Basquet's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Lobe Huesca moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Leon and CB Tarragona. Menorca Basquet at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Lobe Huesca's next round opponent will be league's leader Canarias in Tenerife and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Menorca Basquet will play on the road against CB Tarragona 2017 and be promoted back to the ACB just one year after relegation.
