Ibiza has finally registered their first victory this season after ten consecutive loses. The win is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Arranz-Jopisa Burgos (4-7) 74-60 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Ibiza. Arranz-Jopisa Burgos managed to win fourth quarter 16-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Silvia Morales (170-79) who scored 21 points and 5 assists. Guard Rosa Perez (169-81) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. Four Ibiza players scored in double figures. Chilean center Ziomara Morrison (193-89) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds and American center Kaayla Chones (191-81, college: N.Carolina St.) added 18 points respectively for the guests. Ibiza maintains fourteenth place with 1-10 record. Newly promoted Arranz-Jopisa Burgos keeps the ninth position with seven games lost. They share it with Cajarural. Ibiza will meet higher ranked Hondarribia-Irun (#11) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Arranz-Jopisa Burgos will play against Mann Filter in Zaragoza and hope to secure a win.
