Regular Season Round 16: Matera - Ruvo 69-59

There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Ruvo (2-14) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Matera (6-10) 69-59 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Matera. Ruvo was better in second period 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Matera forced 19 Ruvo turnovers. Ruvo was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international swingman Andrea Pilotti (196-80, agency: Players Group) fired 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Center Raffaele Martone (207-90) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. Marco Tagliabue (206-86) produced 15 points and guard Tommaso Laquintana (183-95) added 12 points and 4 steals respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Matera moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Anagni. Ruvo lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 14 games lost. Matera will face Fabriano (#5) in the next round. Ruvo will play against the league's second-placed Orlandina.
