Regular Season Round 11: STU Tbilisi - Sokhumi 94-74

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Tbilisi: STU (#7) and Sokhumi (#4). STU (5-5) crushed visiting Sokhumi (6-4) by 20 points 94-74. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when STU's pressure prevailed and they won that period 34-18 extending their advantage to 20 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Sokhumi's 34. STU forced 19 Sokhumi turnovers. Strangely Sokhumi outrebounded STU 48-35 including a 23-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for forward Zviad Antadze (198-88, college: Monroe Coll.) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Vasili Beruashvili (198-90) helped adding 16 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Five STU players scored in double figures. International guard Levan Patsatsia (198-88, college: Troy) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Irakli Sordia (191-85) scored 11 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. STU moved-up to sixth place. Sokhumi at the other side keeps the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with MIA Tbilisi. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
