Regular Season Round 23: Shinshu BW - Yokohama BC 63-73

There was a small surprise in Nagano where eighth ranked Yokohama BC (7-11) defeated 6th ranked Shinshu BW (9-12) 73-63 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Yokohama BC. Shinshu BW was better in second period 21-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Yokohama BC dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Shinshu BW's 28. It was a great evening for American forward Justin Burrell (235-88, college: St.John's) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. Senegalese guard Pape Faye (194-87) helped adding 10 points and 16 rebounds. Yokohama BC's coach Reggie Geary used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American power forward Lee Roberts (201-87, college: Findlay, OH) responded with 19 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import forward Tyler Hughes (213-84, college: Kansas St.) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Yokohama BC maintains eighth place with 7-11 record. Shinshu BW lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixth position with 12 games lost. Yokohama BC will have a break next round.
