Regular Season Round 23: Osaka Evessa - Sendai 89ers 60-59

A very close game took place in Osaka between Osaka Evessa and Sendai 89ers. Third ranked Osaka Evessa (14-5) got a very close home victory over 3rd placed Sendai 89ers (11-10). Osaka Evessa managed to escape with a 1-point win 60-59 on Saturday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 14-7. But Sendai 89ers won second period 22-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Osaka Evessa won last quarter 16-17. American forward Johnny Dukes (203-84, college: San Bernardino CC) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import center Rashaad Singleton (213-87, college: Florida Southern) added 13 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the guests. Osaka Evessa moved-up to second place, which they share with Kyoto Hannar. Sendai 89ers lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fourth position with ten games lost. Osaka Evessa will again meet at home Sendai 89ers (#4) in the next round. Sendai 89ers will have a break next round.
