Regular Season Round 23: Oita H.Devils - Okinawa GK 80-83

Eighth-ranked Oita Heat Devils (4-16) gave a tough game to first ranked Okinawa GK (16-5). The visitors from Okinawa managed to secure only three-point victory 83-80. However their fans expected much easier game. Oita Heat Devils were ahead by 3 points after three quarters before a 28-22 charge of Okinawa GK, which allowed them to win the game. Oita Heat Devils were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for American forward David Palmer (201-82, college: S.Utah) who led the winners and scored 32 points (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). His fellow American import Anthony McHenry (202-83, college: Georgia Tech) accounted for 12 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Four Okinawa GK players scored in double figures. American forward T.J. Cummings (205-81, college: UCLA) came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 19 rebounds and guard Naoto Takushi (182-81) added 20 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists respectively for Oita Heat Devils in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Okinawa GK. They maintain first place with 16-5 record. Oita Heat Devils lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with 16 games lost. Okinawa GK will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Oita Heat Devils will play again at home against the league's leader Okinawa GK (#1) and hope to get back on the winning track.
