Regular Season Round 23: Miyazaki SS - Takamatsu FA 75-80

Takamatsu FA has finally registered their first victory this season after 20 consecutive loses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Miyazaki, where they defeated Miyazaki Shining Suns (9-12) 80-75 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 19-6 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Takamatsu FA dominated on the defensive end, holding Miyazaki Shining Suns to just 6 points in third quarter. They outrebounded Miyazaki Shining Suns 43-32 including 32 on the defensive glass. Miyazaki Shining Suns were plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for point guard Masaaki Suzuki (176-87) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points and 9 rebounds. American power forward Paul Butorac (208-83, college: E.Washington) helped adding 18 points and 5 rebounds. Takamatsu FA's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American center Darryl Dora (206-85, college: Texas Tech) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds and the other American import power forward Lewis Witcher (207-87, college: Virginia Tech) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Takamatsu FA maintains ninth place with 1-20 record. Loser Miyazaki Shining Suns dropped to the sixth position with 12 games lost. Takamatsu FA will have a break next round.
