Regular Season Round 16: DongGuan L. - Xinjiang FT 97-90

Xinjiang Flying Tige (#4) was upset in DongGuan by seventh ranked DongGuan Leopards 97-90. The hosts were ahead by 7 points but lost the second period ending it with a 5-point deficit before their 29-17 run, which allowed them to win the game. DongGuan Leopards forced 21 Xinjiang Flying Tige turnovers. Strangely Xinjiang Flying Tige outrebounded DongGuan Leopards 43-30 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Xinjiang Flying Tige was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by Nigerian-American guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) who scored that evening 24 points and American forward Shavlik Randolph (208-83, college: Duke) supported him with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Even a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds by the former international center ZhengDong Tang (213-84) did not help to save the game for Xinjiang Flying Tige. The former international center Bateer Mengke (210-75) added 7 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. DongGuan Leopards (8-7) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Liaoning H. Xinjiang Flying Tige at the other side dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. DongGuan Leopards will play against Shanxi Zhongyu (#8) in Taiyuan in the next round. Xinjiang Flying Tige will play on the road against Fujian SBS XunXin in Jinjiang and hopes to get back on the winning track.
