The game in Tampico was also quite interesting. Third ranked Toros (28-11) played at the court of 6th ranked Huracanes (24-15). Toros did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 111-93 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Toros. Huracanes managed to win fourth quarter 32-29. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Toros shot 63.1 percent from the field. Toros had a 29-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard Thomas Gardner (195-85, college: Missouri) stepped up and scored 33 points (!!!) for the winners and the former international forward Jesus Lopez (205-83, college: SW Baptist) chipped in 24 points and 7 rebounds. American power forward Robert Hornsby (196-82, college: Troy) responded with 21 points and 7 rebounds and Venezuelan forward Nestor Colmenares (203-87, college: Campbellsville) scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. Four Toros and five Huracanes players scored in double figures. Huracanes' coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Toros maintains third place with 28-11 record having three points less than leader Fuerza Regia. Loser Huracanes keep the sixth position with 15 games lost. Toros will meet Correcaminos (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Huracanes will play against the league's leader Fuerza Regia in Monterrey and hope to secure a win.
