Very expected game when 17th ranked Quimper UJAP (4-11) lost on the road to thirteenth ranked Lille Metropole (7-8) 82-74 on Tuesday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-15. But Quimper UJAP won second period 16-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lille Metropole made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Lille Metropole especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for American swingman Curtis Marshall (196-83, college: Texas Tech, agency: R.H.Consultancy) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 4 assists. His fellow American import Steve Smith (200-81, college: Iona) contributed with 22 points and 6 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners. Lille Metropole's coach Fabien Romeyer used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Liberian-American Pele Paelay (193-84, college: Co.Carolina) answered with 27 points and 5 rebounds and Nigerian-British power forward Andrew Lovedale (203-85, college: Davidson) added 17 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Quimper UJAP. Lille Metropole have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Quimper UJAP lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventeenth position with 11 games lost. Lille Metropole will face Le Portel (#12) on the road in the next round. Quimper UJAP will play against Bordeaux (#6).
