Regular Season Round 41: Pioneros - Barreteros 95-76

There was no surprise in Cancun where 9th ranked Barreteros (16-23) were crushed by fifth ranked Pioneros (26-13) 95-76. The game was mostly controlled by Pioneros. Barreteros was better in third quarter 26-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was also dominated by American players. Forward John Millsap (198-82, college: UTSA) nailed 27 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and guard LeRoy Hickerson (196-82, college: Cumberlands) accounted for 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Millsap is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Forward Jerome Habel (208-85, college: San Diego St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and forward James Reaves (203-82, college: Niagara, agency: TSS Management) added 22 points respectively for Barreteros in the defeat. Five Pioneros and four Barreteros players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Pioneros. They moved-up to fourth place. Barreteros lost their ninth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 23 games lost. Pioneros' next round opponent will be again Barreteros (#9) in Zacatecas which should be theoretically an easy game.
