An interesting game was played in Yingkou where host Liaoning Hunters (#7) rolled over 4th placed Zhejiang Cyclones with 22-point difference 117-95 on Wednesday evening. The hosts trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 22 points. Liaoning Hunters forced 21 Zhejiang Cyclones turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Forward Josh Powell (206-83, college: N.Carolina St., agency: Strategic Sports) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and forward Rodney Carney (201-84, college: Memphis) chipped in 33 points (!!!). Four Liaoning Hunters players scored in double figures. Power forward Josh Boone (208-84, college: Connecticut) responded with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 19 rebounds and guard J.R. Smith (198-85) scored 24 points and 7 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Liaoning Hunters. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with DongGuan L. Zhejiang Cyclones at the other side keep the fourth position with six games lost. Liaoning Hunters will meet at home bottom-ranked Jiangsu Dragons (#17) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Zhejiang Cyclones will play against the league's second-placed Guandong Tigers (#2) in Dongguan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
