Rather predictable result when sixth ranked DongGuan Leopards (9-7) outscored at home 8th ranked Shanxi Zhongyu (7-8) 110-91. The game was mostly controlled by DongGuan Leopards. Shanxi Zhongyu was better in third quarter 27-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. DongGuan Leopards forced 21 Shanxi Zhongyu turnovers. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Nigerian-American guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) nailed 35 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and power forward TongLin Sun (208-92) accounted for 20 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Four DongGuan Leopards players scored in double figures. American swingman Marcus Williams (201-86, college: Arizona, agency: Interperformances) came up with 24 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals and the other American import forward Charles Gaines (201-81, college: S.Mississippi) added 23 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Shanxi Zhongyu in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. DongGuan Leopards moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Liaoning H. Shanxi Zhongyu lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with eight games lost. DongGuan Leopards' next round opponent will be Bayi Fubang (#12) in Ningbo and are hoping to win another game. Shanxi Zhongyu will play at home against Fujian SBS XunXin in Jinjiang and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
