No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Halcones UV Xalapa (26-14) crushed at home 11th ranked Lechugueros (15-25) 97-64 on Thursday. The game without a history. Halcones UV Xalapa led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Lechugueros' 36. Halcones UV Xalapa forced 21 Lechugueros turnovers and outrebounded them 47-36 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Halcones UV Xalapa looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Lechugueros' players. It was a good game for international guard Orlando Mendez-Valdez (185-86, college: W.Kentucky) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 5 assists.
