Regular Season Round 42: Pioneros - Barreteros 78-82

There was an upset when higher ranked Pioneros (27-13) lost to ninth ranked Barreteros (17-23) in Cancun 78-82 on Thursday. The guests trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 46-36 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Pioneros outrebounded Barreteros 46-28 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for naturalized American guard Forrest Fisher (193-84) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 6 assists. American forward Jerome Habel (208-85, college: San Diego St.) contributed with 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American guard LeRoy Hickerson (196-82, college: Cumberlands) replied with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Panamanian power forward Antonio Garcia (203-76, college: Ky Wesleyan) added 8 points, 22 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Pioneros. Barreteros moved-up to eighth place. Loser Pioneros keep the fourth position with 13 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
