Very predictable result when fourth ranked CS Bologna (8-4) defeated on the road 10th ranked Pepsi Caserta (6-6) 87-80 on Friday. The game without a history. CS Bologna led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Pepsi Caserta was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. International guard Giuseppe Poeta (190-85) stepped up and scored 19 points and 4 assists for the winners and Georgian forward Viktor Sanikidze (203-86, agency: World Sport Agency) chipped in 11 points and 10 rebounds. Four CS Bologna players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international swingman Alex Righetti (198-77, agency: Interperformances) responded with 23 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and American forward Andre Smith (203-85, college: N.Dakota St.) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. The victory was the third consecutive win for CS Bologna. They moved-up to third place. Loser Pepsi Caserta dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. CS Bologna will face Novipiu CM (#14) in Casale in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Pepsi Caserta will play on the road against Umana Venezia (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
