The game between Top Four teams took place in Broadbeach. 4th placed host Gold Coast Blaze (6-6) lost to third ranked Melbourne Tigers (9-6) 79-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gold Coast Blaze. Gold Coast Blaze was ahead by 3 points after three quarters before a 24-14 charge of Melbourne Tigers, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Gold Coast Blaze to just 6 points in third quarter. International power forward Cameron Tragardh (209-83, college: ORU) nailed 25 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and the former international forward Liam Rush (202-82) accounted for 20 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Four Melbourne Tigers players scored in double figures. The former international forward Mark Worthington (202-83, college: Metro St.) came up with 17 points and 8 rebounds and the former international power forward Anthony Petrie (203-83) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Gold Coast Blaze in the defeat. Melbourne Tigers have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 9-6 record behind leader Wildcats. Gold Coast Blaze at the other side dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. They share it with Crocodiles. Melbourne Tigers will play against league's second-placed New Zealand Breakers in Auckland in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gold Coast Blaze will play on the road against Kings (#5) in Sydney and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
