Date: December 31, 2011
A very interesting game took place in Gwynneville. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 9th ranked Wollongong Hawks (3-10) to seventh ranked Kings (7-9) 86-83 on Saturday evening. The guests were already 11 points ahead at halftime and as many as 12 after three quarters before a 35-26 last quarter charge of Wollongong Hawks cut the lead to 86-83 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Wollongong Hawks 43-31 including 30 on the defensive glass. 28 personal fouls committed by Wollongong Hawks helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American power forward Jerai Grant (203-89, college: Clemson) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Kings' coach Ian Robilliard allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The former international swingman Glen Saville (197-76) answered with 14 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Timothy Coenraad (201-85, college: Nova SE) added 18 points in the effort for Wollongong Hawks. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kings moved-up to fifth place. Wollongong Hawks lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with ten games lost.
