Regular Season Round 11: Oblate Dynamos - Ulster Rockets 55-58

A very close game took place in Dublin between Ulster Rockets and Oblate Dynamos. Sixth ranked Ulster Rockets (5-7) got a very close victory on the road over 10th ranked Oblate Dynamos (1-11). Ulster Rockets managed to escape with a 3-point win 58-55 on Monday evening. Ulster Rockets forced 26 Oblate Dynamos turnovers. Strangely Oblate Dynamos outrebounded Ulster Rockets 64-21 including a 28-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Noleen Lennon who scored 20 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Mairead McNally (175-88, college: Stetson) chipped in 11 points. Forward Tessa Solan (177-92) produced 9 points, 17 rebounds and 4 blocks and Linda Dunne (-85) added 9 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Oblate Dynamos' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Ulster Rockets maintains sixth place with 5-7 record. Oblate Dynamos lost their seventh game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. Ulster Rockets will meet at home higher ranked Peugeot Meteors (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Oblate Dynamos will play against 11890 Killester (#4).
