Very expected game when 9th ranked Leche Rio Breogan (8-9) was defeated on the road by second ranked Ford Burgos (12-5) 86-73 on Wednesday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. British-American forward Darren Phillip (201-78, college: Fairfield) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and guard Jesus Castro (191-83) chipped in 10 points and 4 assists. Ford Burgos' coach Andreu Casadevall used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American power forward Brooks Sales (208-80, college: Villanova) responded with 18 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import swingman Joseph Krabbenhoft (201-87, college: Wisconsin, agency: N.E.T.) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ford Burgos maintains second place with 12-5 record having just two points less than leader Canarias. Loser Leche Rio Breogan keeps the ninth position with nine games lost. Ford Burgos will face bottom-ranked Clinicas Rincon (#18) in Malaga in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Leche Rio Breogan will play on the road against Menorca Basquet (#5) in Mahon.
