Regular Season Round 20: Shanghai S. - Foshan LL 95-88
Date: January 4, 2012
No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Shanghai Sharks (11-8) defeated at home 16th ranked Foshan (5-13) 95-88. It looked good early as Foshan took an 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Shanghai Sharks had a 30-12 second period charge getting the lead and Foshan was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 88-95. The winners were led by American forward Mike Harris (198-83, college: Rice) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds and international point guard Wei Liu (190-80) supported him with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Shanghai Sharks' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 29 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks by American-Filipino power forward Marcus Douthit (210-80, college: Providence, agency: Edge Sports) did not help to save the game for Foshan. Syrian guard Michel Maadanly (195-81) added 21 points and 10 rebounds for the guests. Five Shanghai Sharks and four Foshan players scored in double figures. Shanghai Sharks have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Liaoning H. and DongGuan L. Foshan lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixteenth position with 13 games lost. Shanghai Sharks will have a break next round. Foshan will play at home against the league's second-placed Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (#2) in Hangzhou.
