Regular Season Round 11: Kolossos - AGOR 93-90 OT
Date: January 4, 2012
Fifth-ranked AGOR (5-5) was very close to win a game against third ranked Kolossos (9-1) in Rodou on Wednesday. Kolossos managed to secure only three-point victory 93-90. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 23-19 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 20-17. Kolossos shot 35 for 47 from the free-throw line, while AGOR only scored fourteen points from the stripe. AGOR was plagued by 33 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Marcus Hatten (186-80, college: St.John's) orchestrated the victory by scoring 27 points and 7 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Ruben Boykin (201-85, college: N.Arizona) contributed with 19 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Kolossos players scored in double figures. American guard Dionte Christmas (196-86, college: Temple) answered with 25 points and 5 rebounds and the former international forward Giorgos Dedas (200-80) added 13 points in the effort for AGOR. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Kolossos have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Panathinaikos and Olympiakos. Newly promoted AGOR keeps the fifth place with five games lost. Kolossos will face Peristeri GS (#6) in Athens in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. AGOR will play at home against Aris in Thessaloniki.
