There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Ikaros (2-8) beat 9th ranked Ilysiakos (4-7) in Kalitheas 75-69 on Wednesday. Ilysiakos was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Ikaros made 27-of-33 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Ikaros outrebounded Ilysiakos 36-24 including 29 on the defensive glass. Ilysiakos was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American-Mexican swingman Romel Beck (203-82, college: UNLV, agency: Interperformances) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Australian-New Zealand center Aron Baynes (208-86, college: Washington St.) contributed with 11 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Ikaros' coach Aris Likogiannis used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Giorgios Apostolidis (199-84, agency: FCM) answered with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and Bosnian-Serbian forward Miroslav Todic (205-85) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Ilysiakos.
