Bottom-ranked Torpan Pojat managed to get a second victory, breaking the five-game losing streak on Wednesday night. This time they edged twelfth-ranked BC Jyvaskyla in Helsinki 80-78. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-18. But BC Jyvaskyla won second period 18-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Torpan Pojat won last quarter 26-26. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 55.2 percentage. Guard Sauli Silvonen (186-83) notched 20 points to lead the effort and Cuban guard Alexis Lavastida (188-77) supported him with 13 points and 5 rebounds. Even 23 points by forward Jarno Nissinen (195-77) did not help to save the game for BC Jyvaskyla. Forward Jani Parkkinen (191-87) added 15 points for the guests. Four BC Jyvaskyla players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Torpan Pojat (2-12) moved-up to eleventh place. BC Jyvaskyla lost eleventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. Torpan Pojat will meet higher ranked Aanekosken Huima (#7) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. BC Jyvaskyla will play against Porvoon Tarmo (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
