Regular Season Round 11: Laurier - Waterloo 71-55

Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Waterloo: Laurier (#3) and Waterloo (#8). Laurier (6-3) crushed visiting Waterloo (1-8) by 16 points 71-55. The game was mostly controlled by Laurier. Waterloo was better in third quarter 19-6. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Laurier dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Waterloo's 30. Laurier forced 26 Waterloo turnovers and outrebounded them 40-29 including 17 on the offensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for forward Bree Chaput (173) who led the winners and scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Samantha Jacobs (178) accounted for 10 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Guard Laura Burnett (173) came up with 14 points and guard Marti Killeen (180) added 10 points respectively for Waterloo in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Laurier maintains third place with 6-3 record behind leader Concordia. Waterloo lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with eight games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
