Round 20 in PLK means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Kolobrzeg where host Kotwica (12-7) beat league's leader Trefl Sopot (13-5) 64-59 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Trefl Sopot. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 64-59. Kotwica dominated on the defensive end, holding Trefl Sopot to just 6 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Trefl Sopot 51-34 including a 41-29 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was naturalized Israeli guard Oded Brandwein (188-88, agency: N.E.T.) who scored 18 points and 4 assists. American power forward Darrell Harris (208-84, college: Rhode Island) chipped in 6 points and 14 rebounds. American power forward John Turek (205-83, college: Nebraska) produced 26 points and 6 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) and the former international guard Lukasz Koszarek (187-84) added 12 points and 6 assists respectively for the guests. Kotwica maintains fifth position with 12-7 record. Trefl Sopot at the other side dropped to the second place with five games lost. They share the position with Anwil. They were replaced at the leadership position by PGE Turow. Trefl Sopot will play next round against PBG Basket trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Kotwica will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Energa Czarni in Slupsk.
