Regular Season Round 12: Acadia - Cape Breton 108-65
Date: January 5, 2012
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Capers (4-3) against fourth ranked Axemen (3-3) on Thursday night. Visiting Capers were crushed by Axemen in Wolfville, NS 108-65. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Capers. The game without a history. Axemen led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They also forced 19 Capers turnovers. Axemen shot the lights out from three nailing 14 long-distance shots on high 60.9 percentage. The winners were led by guard Anthony Sears (193) who scored that evening 35 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds (perfect from downtown making all five shots) and guard Anthony Ashe (193) supported him with 21 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Four Axemen players scored in double figures. Axemen's coach Stephen Baur felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 12 points and 6 rebounds by guard Jamie Glasgow (180) did not help to save the game for Capers. Stephane Goosen added 9 points and 7 rebounds. Axemen maintains fourth position with 3-3 record. Capers at the other side keep the third place with three games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
