Undefeated Vikies (8-1) recorded its first loss in Victoria, BC. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Huskies (6-2) 86-81. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Vikies. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Vikies were ahead by 5 points after three quarters before a 28-18 charge of Huskies, which allowed them to win the game. American point guard Jamelle Barrett (180) stepped up and scored 32 points and 7 assists for the winners and international forward Michael Lieffers (203-87) chipped in 19 points and 13 rebounds. Huskies' coach Barry Rawlyk allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side Michael Acheampong responded with 19 points and guard Ryan Mackinnon (193-89) scored 20 points. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Huskies. They moved-up to second place. Vikies at the other side still keep top position with one game lost. They share it with Laurier and Lakehead. Huskies will play against Thunderbirds (#5) in Vancouver, BC in the next round. Vikies will play at home against Golden Bears (#3) in Edmonton, AB and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
