Regular Season Round 13: Western - Lakehead 73-91

Date: January 6, 2012
Not a big story in a game when 8th ranked Mustangs (3-6) lost to second ranked Thunderwolves (8-1) in London, ON 73-91 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Thunderwolves. Mustangs was better in third quarter 25-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Thunderwolves looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Mustangs' players. It was a very good performance for center Ryan Thomson (201-90) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 4 assists. Naturalized Egyptian forward Yoosrie Salhia (198-87) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Thunderwolves' coach Scott Morrison used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Ryan Barbeau (178) answered with 24 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and forward Peter Scholtes (196) added 19 points in the effort for Mustangs. The victory was the third consecutive win for Thunderwolves. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Victoria and Laurier. Loser Mustangs keep the eighth place with six games lost. Thunderwolves will have a break next round. Mustangs will play again on the road against the league's leader Thunderwolves (#1) in Thunder Bay, ON.
