Second Stage Round 11: Lanus - Quilmes MP 83-62
Date: January 6, 2012
Very expected game when 16th ranked Quilmes MP (2-9) was smashed by ninth ranked Lanus (6-5) in Buenos Aires 83-62 on Friday. The game without a history. Lanus led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. The former international guard Mariano Byro (195-82) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 5 rebounds. The former international center Diego Guaita (204-83) contributed with 15 points for the winners. The former international center Axel Weigand (200-85) answered with 13 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Louis Truscott (201-78, college: Houston, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) added 10 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Quilmes MP. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lanus moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Quilmes MP lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Lanus will face again bottom-ranked Quilmes MP (#16) in Mar del Plata in the next round which should be another easy win for them.
