Regular Season Round 12: Bulleen B. - Townsville F. 92-75

The most important game in the last round took place in Melbourne between third ranked Townsville Fire (10-7) and fourth ranked Bulleen Boomers (10-4) on Friday night. Townsville Fire was defeated by Bulleen Boomers on the road 92-75. The game was mostly controlled by Bulleen Boomers. Townsville Fire managed to win third quarter 24-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Bulleen Boomers made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Bulleen Boomers outrebounded Townsville Fire 41-26 including 16 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Liz Cambage (203-91) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 6 rebounds and British swingman Johannah Leedham (180-87, college: Franklin Pierce) who added 10 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Shanavia Dowdell (188-87, college: Louisiana Tech, agency: LBM Management) with 17 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Nadeen Payne (188-93) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Five Bulleen Boomers and four Townsville Fire players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to second place. Townsville Fire at the other side dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost. Bulleen Boomers are looking forward to face Sydney Uni Flames (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Townsville Fire will play against AIS in Belconnen and is hoping to win this game.
