Regular Season Round 15: Arras - Nice 59-50

Very expected game when 14th ranked Nice (3-12) lost on the road to ninth ranked Arras (6-8) 59-50 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 12 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 9 points. Arras dominated on the defensive end, holding Nice to just 2 points in second quarter. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Joyce Cousseins-Smith (165-88) who led the winners and scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. DR Congolese power forward Pauline Akonga Nsimbo (188-82, agency: LBM Management) accounted for 17 points for the winning side. Estonian swingman Merike Anderson (180-81, agency: LBM Management) came up with 14 points and Canadian center Krysten Boogaard (195-88, college: Kansas) added 5 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Nice in the defeat. Nice's coach Olga Tarasenko rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Arras moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Charleville. Newly promoted Nice stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Arras will meet Villeneuve D'Asco (#12) on the road in the next round. Nice will play against Charleville-Mezieres and hope to secure a win.
