Regular Season Round 13: TRU - Winnipeg 84-68

There was no surprise when 13th ranked Wesmen (2-7) lost to eighth ranked Wolfpack (5-4) in Kamloops, BC 68-84 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 84-68. Wolfpack forced 19 Wesmen turnovers. Wesmen was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for guard Akeem Pierre (180) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Chas Kok (196) contributed with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Wolfpack players scored in double figures. Guard Andrew Cunningham (186, college: Redlands CC) answered with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists and forward Eric Zimmerman (196) added 15 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Wesmen. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Wolfpack. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Wesmen lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. Wolfpack will face Bisons (#6) in Winnipeg, MB in the next round. Wesmen will play on the road against Heat in Kelowna, BC.
