Regular Season Round 12: Brandon - Regina 38-96

CIS top team - Regina (8-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed fourteenth ranked Brandon (0-9) 96-38. The game without a history. Regina led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Brandon to just 5 points in fourth quarter and to 12 points in second half. Regina held Brandon to an opponent 24.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 45.8 percent accuracy of the winners. Regina forced 26 Brandon turnovers and outrebounded them 60-34 including a 24-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Brandon's players. It was a good game for international swingman Lindsay Ledingham (183-90) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. Polish guard Joanna Zalesiak (174-88, college: UTEP) contributed with 9 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Four Regina players scored in double figures. Regina's coach Dave Taylor felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Aimee Johnston (185-93) replied with 22 points and 8 rebounds and forward Jaynell Gillett (185-90) added 9 points in the effort for Brandon. Regina have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-0 record. Brandon at the other side still closes the standings with nine games lost. Regina will have a break next round. Brandon will play again at home against the league's leader Regina (#1) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
