CIS top team - Ottawa (7-2) had no problems winning another game on Friday. This time they crushed seventh ranked Laurentian (2-7) in Greater Sudbury 67-32. The game without a history. Ottawa led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Laurentian to just 4 points in third quarter and to 14 points in first half. Ottawa dominated down low during the game scoring 36 of its points in the paint compared to Laurentian's 14. Worth to mention a quality performance of forward Maddie Stephen (186) who helped to win the game recording 8 points and 10 rebounds and power forward Jenna Gilbert (183, college: La Salle) who added 11 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Emma Decloe (183) with 4 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Rebecca Goodier (180) scored 5 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ottawa have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-2 record, which they share with Windsor. Laurentian lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with seven games lost. Ottawa will face York (#5) in Toronto in the next round. Laurentian will play at home against the league's second-placed Carleton in Ottawa.
