Regular Season Round 12: Lakehead - Western 74-58

Rather predictable result in Thunder Bay where fourth ranked Lakehead (5-4) defeated 7th ranked Western (3-6) 74-58 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Lakehead. Western was better in third quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lakehead looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Western's players. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Carolyn Fragale (168-89) who helped to win the game recording 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Lindsay Druery (185-88) who added 16 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Lakehead players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Jenny Vaughan (175-90, college: Denver) with 18 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Jory McDonald (186-93) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Lakehead maintains fourth position with 5-4 record, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Western dropped to the sixth place with six games lost. Lakehead will face again Western (#7) in London in the next round.
