Regular Season Round 14: Pogon Prudnik - UMKS Piotrc. 99-76

There was no surprise when 14th ranked UMKS Piotrc. (2-12) was outplayed on the road by third ranked Pogon Prudnik (10-4) 99-76 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Pogon Prudnik. UMKS Piotrc. was better in fourth quarter 24-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Pogon Prudnik dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to UMKS Piotrc.'s 52. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by UMKS Piotrc.'s players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Pogon Prudnik made 17 blocks. Guard Szymon Kucia (190-83) scored 25 points and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Maciej Lepczynski (193-82) chipped in 12 points, 10 assists and 4 steals during the contest. Mateusz Tomczynski (-91) responded with 23 points and 4 assists and forward Damian Kalinowski (201-91) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Five Pogon Prudnik and four UMKS Piotrc. players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Pogon Prudnik moved-up to second place in Group B, which they share with BM Wegiel Stal and AZS AWF K-ce. Newly promoted UMKS Piotrc. keeps the fourteenth position with 12 games lost. Pogon Prudnik will face MKS Skierniew. (#10) in Skierniewice in the next round and are hoping to win another game. UMKS Piotrc. will play at home against WKK Obiekty (#5) in Wroclaw.
