Very important is a road loss of second ranked AEK (9-4) against twelfth ranked Doxa Lefkadas (6-7) on Saturday night. Visiting AEK was defeated by Doxa Lefkadas in Lefkadas 64-52. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of AEK. The game was mostly controlled by Doxa Lefkadas. AEK was better in second period 10-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Nikos Pettas (195-81) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 8 rebounds. Serbian guard Marko Pekovic (193-81, agency: BeoExcell) contributed with 13 points and 4 assists for the winners. Doxa Lefkadas' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Center Dimitris Despos (209-76, agency: FCM) answered with 10 points and 9 rebounds and forward Vaggelis Sklavos (202-77) added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for AEK. Doxa Lefkadas moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Panerythraikos and Nea Kifisia. AEK at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. They share it with Apollon Patras. Doxa Lefkadas will play against bottom-ranked AEK/Argous (#16) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. AEK's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Amyntas Dafnis.
