An interesting game was also surprising road defeat of 4th ranked Real Canoe in a game in Leioa versus Irlandesas (#7) 63-56. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Real Canoe. The hosts trailed by 13 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 7 points. Irlandesas forced 20 Real Canoe turnovers. Forward Laura Jornet (181-85) notched 16 points to lead the effort and center Sheila Alana (191-82) supported her with 11 points and 6 rebounds. Even 17 points and 5 rebounds by American forward Kate Mills (185-86, college: Massachusetts) did not help to save the game for Real Canoe. Guard Lidia Gesteira (172-72) added 14 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Irlandesas (8-5) moved-up to sixth place in Group B. Loser Real Canoe keeps the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Alcobendas. Irlandesas will meet league's second-placed Casablanca in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Real Canoe's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Madrid ASEFA Estudiantes.
