No shocking result in a game when first ranked Vikies (9-1) beat one of their biggest challengers Golden Bears (6-4) in Victoria, BC 83-77 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 47-40 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Vikies made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Michael Acheampong orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points. Guard Ryan Mackinnon (193-89) contributed with 20 points and 4 assists for the winners. International guard Jordan Baker (192-91, college: Utah Valley) replied with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and swingman Daniel Ferguson (191, college: Valdosta St.) added 26 points in the effort for Golden Bears.
