There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Stade Clermont (5-10) beat at home higher ranked Chartres (8-7) 82-76 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 25-18 charge, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for Bulgarian swingman Simeon Naydenov (201-81, college: Louisville, agency: Global Sports Plaza) who led his team to a victory with 27 points. American forward Jonathan McClark (200-77, college: Rider) contributed with 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Stade Clermont players scored in double figures. Forward Guillaume Merie (198-83) answered with 18 points and 8 rebounds and Serbian center Ljubomir Avramovic (201-79) added 18 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Chartres. Chartres' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Stade Clermont maintains fourteenth place with 5-10 record, which they share with Rueil. Newly promoted Chartres dropped to the tenth position with seven games lost. Stade Clermont will face higher ranked Etendard de Brest (#10) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
