Regular Season Round 13: Napoli BK - Ancona 73-57

There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Napoli BK Women (6-7) won against at home 7th ranked Ancona (5-7) 73-57 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Napoli BK Women. Ancona was better in fourth quarter 19-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Napoli BK Women forced 24 Ancona turnovers. Bulgarian power forward Milena Tomova (189-82, college: FIU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and point guard Elettra Ferretti (175-93) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. Napoli BK Women's coach Massimo Romano used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side forward Roberta Racca (181-87) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and American-British center Gillian D'Hondt (191-82, college: Pacific) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Napoli BK Women moved-up to seventh place in South. Loser Ancona dropped to the eighth position with seven games lost. Napoli BK Women will face Il Fotoamatore Firenze (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ancona will play against S.E.Battipaglia (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
